Glenglassaugh Whisky with a fresh look and new products

The Scottish distillery Glenglassaugh looks back on an eventful history of almost 150 years. After a long break in production, the distillery has reinvented itself and is clearly committed to its home on the north-east coast of Scotland with three new products.

The Glenglassaugh distillery is only a few steps away from Sandend Bay and the sea. The brand is inextricably linked to the location of its distillery – the influence of the salty sea air and the pure water of the nearby spring make up the taste and identity of the «Coastal Single Malt».

Founded in 1875, the distillery looks back on an eventful history. Glenglassaugh shut down production several times, and in 1986 the distillery even closed its doors completely. Since 2008, production has been running again and the brand has completely revamped its image – with a new logo, modern bottle design and a consistent commitment to the location on the coast.

In the course of the relaunch, three new products were launched in 2023 – the 12 Year Old, the Sandend and the Portsoy. They more than do justice to the designation «Coastal Single Malt» and embody the maritime style of the brand in every respect.

12 Year Old

The first age-stated whisky since the distillery reopened in 2008, it’s matured in bourbon, sherry and red wine casks and boasts delicious waves of ripe fruit framed by ocean breezes.

Sandend

Inspired by the local Sandend Bay, the single malt matured in bourbon, sherry and manzanilla casks convinces with intense tropical sweetness.

Portsoy

The neighbouring harbour village of Portsoy inspired Glenglassaugh to create this single malt. It is matured in sherry, bourbon and port casks and intensely peated – making it a smoky single malt with toast and coastal flavours.
