Woodford Reserve and the Old Fashioned
The Old Fashioned: A whisky bourbon cocktail classic reinterpreted
At the beginning of November, renowned bartenders from the hottest Swiss bars will be creating individual interpretations of the classic cocktail Old Fashioned – with Woodford Reserve as the ideal accompaniment.
The trend of reinterpreting classic cocktails is inspiring bar culture enthusiasts worldwide. Every year, bars around the world present their own versions of the legendary Old Fashioned with Woodford Reserve at the centre. You can find the participating Swiss bars and their creations on the official landing page.
Woodford Reserve and the Old Fashioned – a special connection
The history of the Old Fashioned goes way back to the 19th century, but the drink owes its popularity above all to Colonel James E. Pepper. He brought the recipe for the Old Fashioned, prepared with Woodford Reserve bourbon, to the famous Waldorf-Astoria in New York, where it quickly became a favourite of high society. Since then, the Old Fashioned has been a firm favourite in every good bar.
The classic Old Fashioned is characterised by its simple and elegant blend:
- Woodford Reserve Bourbon Whisky
- Sugar syrup (Simple Syrup)
- Bitters
Woodford Reserve is perfect for this drink: the bourbon is produced in Kentucky’s oldest and smallest distillery, with artisanal expertise in copper stills and centuries-old cypress wood fermentation vats. The more than 200 subtle flavours of Woodford Reserve make it a favourite of bartenders worldwide.
Creative reinterpretations of a classic
Woodford Reserve supports bars and restaurants in developing innovative variations on the classic and showcasing their craftsmanship. With creative interpretations, top cocktail bars are showing that the Old Fashioned is anything but old-fashioned – bartenders in Switzerland are also setting new standards.
Preparation of the classic Old Fashioned
