Vermouth
Back in 1786, the young Antonio Benedetto Carpano invents a liqueur wine that he then flavours with herbs and spices. He names his concoction after its key ingredient: wormwood herb. Carpano is thus the first and oldest vermouth producer. Even today, all products are made without artificial additives. This also includes, of course, the flagship «Antica Formula», which is based on the original recipe. Our vermouths can be enjoyed neat and are also perfect for drinks such as Negroni, Manhattan or Dry Martini.

Carpano Antica Formula
The story begins in 1786 in Turin, when Antonio Benedetto Carpano, following a period in which he studied to be a herbalist, discovered the formula which was to give rise to the category of Vermouth products by combining herbs and spices with muscatel – this marked the birth of Carpano vermouth. Carpano's wine shop was located directly opposite the king's palace. Confident in the appeal of his new product, he sent a case of vermouth to King Vittorio Amedeo III. The king took an immediate liking to the drink and introduced it to the royal household.
